Mary Faith McCormick, 33, a sixth-grade language arts teacher at Siloam Springs Intermediate School, was arrested August 13 2014 and accused of exchanging sexually explicit photographs with a 13-year-old boy on the messaging app Snapchat. McCormick was sentenced in July 2015 to 8 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction. She will have to serve at least two years before she will be eligible for parole. She must abide by a suspended sentence agreement for 12 years after her release from prison.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — A former teacher at Wolf Canyon Elementary School  – who posed as a girl on a webcam chat website called “MeetMe” –  was sentenced this month to 125 years to life in prison. John Raymond Kinloch, 43, was first arrested in November 2012, following an investigation by the San Diego Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.  Kinloch reportedly posed as a 13-year-old girl to befriend boys ages 12-16.  At the time of his arrest on child molestation charges and child pornography charges, the 41-year-old had been teaching for 14 years and had passed background checks designed to protect students in the Chula Vista Elementary School District. One of the victims testified in 2013 that he met Kinloch when he was a student  Kinloch’s 2nd grade class at Feaster Charter School on Flower Street. When the victim was in 3rd grade, Kinloch asked him to take off his clothes.  Kinloch replortedly asked the victim to expose himself “many times” but touched the boy’s genitals only occasionally.  The molestation continued for five or six years.  At the time of his arrest, Kinloch was teaching first grade at Wolf Canyon Elementary School.

Michelle Yeh, 28, was arrested in Los Angeles this month after a student revealed she had “sexually abused him on several occasions” during the 2014-2015 school year. Yeh posted a $100,000 bond and is due back in court August 12th. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Pennsylvania Piano Teacher Sentenced to Prison for Molesting Students  61

CHESTER COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA – Anton Fomin, 45, a piano teacher and Russian national, was arrested on June 12, 2014 and charged with abuse of five 6-year-olds and an 11-year-old during private piano lessons at the Malvern School of Music.  Fomin began working for the Malvern school when it opened in 2008, and also taught piano out of his East Pikeland home. The investigation was initiated when a parent of a 6-year-old girl contacted the Malvern Police Department and told police that Fomin had touched her daughter inappropriately during one-on-one piano lessons at the school. On July 17, 2015, Fomin pleaded guilty in Chester County court and was sentenced to 3½ to seven years in state prison. According to the WPXI.COM news report, Fomin will be subject to deportation when he is released from prison.

Indiana Teacher Sentenced to Year in Prison for Sex with Student  10

Kellen Hubert, 29, a teacher at Corydon Central Junior High School, has been sentenced to one year in prison for a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old student, multiple news outlets have reported.  Hubert was initially arrested in December when the student’s mother found text messages between her daughter and Hubert. He pleaded guilty to child seduction and the judge sentenced him to one year in prison and a year probation. Hubert will also have to register as a sex offender for 10 years.

Werner Alcid Gerard, 37, was arrested in May 2014 after police received reports from two 18-year-old men that Girard was in possession of video depicting a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old girl in various stages of undress, as well as Girard touching the girls inappropriately. Both victims were girls in Girard’s drama class. Girard was arrested and booked on 13 felony charges, including voyeurism, sexual exploitation of a minor, sexual conduct with a minor, sexual assault and unlawful viewing of a tape or recording of a person. In July 2015, Girard was sentenced to 20 years in prison as well as lifetime probation.

In September 2014, Anchorage Police began investigating allegations after one of David Schwantes’ former students reported that Schwantes sexually abused him. The man told police he met Schwantes at the Mount Spurr school during the 1988-89 school year, when Schwantes was named Anchorage teacher of the year. Schwantes molested the boy during the 1990s at school and elsewhere, according to his account to police. Schwantes pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six years prison time with four years suspended. During the sentencing, Judge Michael Wolverton called sex abuse in Alaska “an epidemic.”

Fichter was a teacher at Central Florida Aerospace Academy in Lakeland. She was arrested after at least three former students came forward to claim they had a sexual relationship with her when they were 17 years old. One of the encounters resulted in a pregnancy, which Fichter later aborted. She was fired from the school following her arrest in April 2014. In April 2015, she pleaded guilty to all 37 counts. Prosecutors had asked the judge to sentence Fichter to 25 years in prison; the judge gave her 22 years instead.
